Awards night at Doune Castle

-

After securing the Caledonian League First Division Trophy on Saturday afternoon, Doune Castle held their Player of the Year Awards ceremony at Doune Castle Bowling Club in the evening.

Before presenting the awards, manager George Ward reflected on a successful, but challenging season, as like all clubs the Castle gradually moved forward from the pandemic. He paid tribute to the committee and thanked them for their endeavours behind the scenes.

Thomas Nelson was named Player of the Year and received The

Docherty Trophy, named in memory of Willie Docherty Senior.

The Hurst Trophy, named in honour of Jackie Hurst, another Castle stalwart, was presented to David Innes, the Players’player of the Year.

And, recipient of the Top Goal Scorer Award was Alan Inglis, who fittingly scored two goals earlier in the day.

With one cup game still to play, Doune will now look forward to their summer break, knowing when they resume in August they will do so once more as a Premier Division club.
