Drug man’s sentence deferred

-

A Stirling man was caught with street valium in a city street.

Martin Mcgowan had admitted a charge of possessing Etizolam in Stirling’s Irvine Place on May 13, 2020, while on bail on another matter.

The 35-year-old had originally faced a charge of being concerned in the supply of the class-c drug to another or others.

However, the Crown accepted a guilty plea to an amended charge of possession.

Mcgowan had also pleaded guilty to stealing health products from Holland and Barrett in the Thistles on May 18, 2021.

He had been living at Springkerse homeless accommodation.

When the matters called for sentence last week Mcgowan did not appear at Stirling Sheriff Court.

His agent Virgil Crawford said he understood that his client had gone into residential rehabilitation in Glasgow and was still there.

Sheriff Alison Michie further deferred sentence until June 22 for an update on Mcgowan’s rehabilitation status.
