A centuries old hotel and bar in Doune has been put on the market with a price tag of at least £195,000.

UK Property Firm Graham & Sibbald are marketing the Red Lion Inn in Balkerach Street for sale.

The inn, which is over 200 years old, is located in the centre of Doune and features a lounge bar; restaurant; meeting/function room; six letting bedrooms; a 1-bedroom private flat; and outside a sheltered patio terrace and private car parking.

The famous Doune Castle is nearby, which has featured ‘on screen’ many times - as the film location for the BBC production of Ivanhoe, the film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, as well as the award-winning TV series Game of Thrones, and Outlander.

Alistair Letham, hotel consultant with Graham & Sibbald, said: “Doune Castle, and therefore Doune, is an increasingly popular destination for the many visitors who like to seek out their favourite film/ TV locations, plus a few miles south of the village is the Blair Drummond Safari Park where you will find the ‘African Bush’ in the Scottish countryside.

“The Red Lion Inn is your quintessential village centre inn, offering the range of F&B and accommodation facilities.

“With the onset of Covid, in 2020, and other circumstances, the Red Lion Inn has not fully traded as a licensed premises for more than two years.

New owners, therefore, have an excellent opportunity to develop the business at the inn to its previous ‘glory’ and beyond.”
