ALVA COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Alva Community Council is hosting a family fun day in the Cochrane Park on Saturday June 4 from noon until 4pm. The Fun Day is titled A Right Royal Fun Day as a way of celebratin­g the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Alva Community Council is meeting online using Zoom until further notice. Members of the Alva community are welcome at all meetings and can request to join a meeting by emailing info@alvacommun­itycouncil.org. uk. ALLAN CHURCH TUESDAY COFFEE CLUB

The club will run on the first and third Tuesday of each month due to reduced numbers of helpers. It will still be from 10-11.30am. If you would like to help out please come along and speak to a member of the team. Organisers are looking forward to seeing everyone again. If the banner is out, then the club is open, but please do a lateral flow test before attending.

BANNOCKBUR­N BUTTERCUP CAFÉ

The cafe in Allan Church Community Hall requires more volunteers to enable it to restart successful­ly. Organisers cannot run safely without volunteers and helpers so please come along and help. There will be a meeting on Monday, May 30 at 1.30pm or call Lesley on 07968 329764 if you would like to discuss. The aim is to be open every Monday once there are enough helpers.

MURRAYFIEL­D UNITED FREE CHURCH

Sunday’s service will be led by Rev Gary Barclay in the church hall at 10.30am and will also be available on Youtube at Murrayfiel­d UF Online from 10.30am onwards. The Indoor Walking Group meets on zoom at 4pm on Mondays and Fridays - details from Jean Hastings. Our outdoor walking group (known as Tea in the Park) meets on Friday, May 20, with an observatio­nal walk in Ladywell Park, starting at 2pm at the Bruce Street car park. This is Christian Aid Week and donation envelopes are available in the church hall. Thanks to all who ordered plants - they will be delivered this week.

LADYWELL CHURCH

Tomorrow, Thursday, our weekly coffee morning takes place between 10.30am and noon. All welcome to come along for tea, coffee and cakes and a blether. On Saturday the monthly coffee morning is again between 10.30am and noon. Please come along and give your support. On Sunday the service is at 11.15am. TEA’S COMPANY

Held every Monday between 2pm and 4pm in the Honeyman Hall at Bridge of Allan Parish Church, Tea’s Company is a community group for those who want a chat, make new friends, feeling lonely or isolated. Friendly atmosphere. Free cake and tea. Members play bingo, hold quizzes, singalongs and have theme days.

BOWLING CLUB

On Saturday the club played the latest in the round of friendly fixtures against Bannockbur­n Bowling Club at their green. The result was a win for Bridge of Allan by 67 to 53. Bridge of Allan skips scores were I Wright 17 - 8, S Ingram 9 - 20, R Guy 19 - 11 and R Fairgrieve 22 - 14. On Saturday, May 21, the club plays a home friendly against Stirling Bowling Club. On Friday evening, May 20, there will be a Fun Bowls/ Cheese and Wine event at the club starting at 6.30pm. All welcome. Cost £5 per person. On Sunday, May 29 the club is holding an open day/try Bowls day at the club between 1am and 3pm. Watch out for the posters around the town.

ST SAVIOUR’S CHURCH

The Wednesday morning quiet Eucharist continues this week at 11am, in the choir vestry. There will be coffee after the service. Our lay readers will be conducting the 10am worship on Sunday, May 22. Sue White will be leading the service and the preacher will be Nick Price. It is the sixth Sunday of Easter and the theme is the ‘Jesus’ Gift of Peace to his followers’. There will be refreshmen­ts in the Church Hall after the service. Our new comfortabl­e chairs have arrived and look splendid now they are in place. The church is open every day from 10am until 4pm for private prayer and meditation everyone is welcome. With the relaxation of COVID guidance for places of worship please continue to take precaution­s that you are comfortabl­e with whilst respecting the needs of those around you.

CAMBUSBARR­ON SWI NEWS

The next meeting will take place at 1pm today (Wednesday) in the community centre. This will be the Annual General Meeting and will be followed by a seated exercise session with Laura Taylor. Competitio­ns are a favourite calendar and a handmade bookmark. On Tuesday, May 24 there will be an outing to Bannockbur­n House for a guided tour followed by tea/ coffee and cake in the Victorian dining room. All members warmly welcomed.

BRUCE MEMORIAL CHURCH

The Church will be open for prayer today and every Wednesday from 10am to noon. Our ‘Fruitfulne­ss on the Frontline’ Discussion Group is on this Thursday in the Church Hall from 7-8.30pm.
