A woman had to be carried off of a hillside near Killin at the weekend after suffering a nasty leg injury.

Volunteers from Killin Mountain Rescue Team were called out on Sunday afternoon after walker Joyce Ferrington slipped as she descended Sron a Chlachain – suffering a broken ankle.

Paying tribute to the rescuers, Joyce’s husband took to social media to offer thanks. He posted: “My wife Joyce suffered what turned out to be a broken ankle after a simple slip on the way back down from an enjoyable walk up. Everyone involved in the rescue off the hill and subsequent treatment were superb and we can’t thank you all enough!”

A spokesperson for Killin MRT posted: “We volunteer because we love the hills and wish to help others when they need assistance.

“It was our pleasure to come to the aid Joyce and Colin yesterday. We wish Joyce a speedy recovery from all at Killin MRT.”
