A Callander caravan park has been given the go-ahead to welcome more holidaymakers.

Bruce Thomson of Wood Leisure Holiday Parks submitted an application to Loch Lomond and Trossachs

National Park planners for Callander Woods Caravan Park.

The proposals sought alterations to the approved layout of the existing caravan park to site a maximum of 255 caravans, including a minimum of 99 touring caravans.

The caravan park is located at the eastern entrance to Callander on the south side of the A84. It has 98 stances for static caravans or pods and 124 touring stances, with the site licence allowing for a maximum of 222 stances, of which 99 should be used by touring caravans.

In their decision, the park planners said:“it is proposed to site an additional 25 static caravans (eight twin unit and 17 single) bringing the total number of stances to 247. The proposed caravans would be located in the southeastern corner of the site in an area currently used for recreation and dog walking.

“Given that the proposed caravans represents a modest increase in accommodation on the site (by 11 per cent) it would not be reasonable to impose a different occupancy condition on the proposed units [to that which operates at the moment]. The purpose of a 90-day occupancy condition is to ensure that holiday accommodation is not occupied as a main residence, which would be required to be assessed under the housing policy.

“It is proposed to remove two trees and four replacement trees are proposed.”
