A great night was had by all at a fantastic charity event in Drymen recently which raised more than £4000 for Strathcarron Hospice.

West Stirlingshire Friends of Strathcarron Hospice held their annual ladies night in the Winnock Hotel.

The attendees were entertained by talented vocalist Barbara Bryceland who first hit television screens in 2007 when she entered The X Factor singing ‘Somewhere’ before going on to win rave reviews as a contestant on BBC’S The Voice, with judge Sir Tom Jones branding her vocals as “wonderful”.

She has also chalked up several hundred thousand views on Youtube and has supported stars including Sophie Ellis-bextor and Joe Mcelderry.

Her talents were much appreciated by the Drymen crowd.

Spokesperson for the Friends, Tina Morrison said: “Our thanks must go to all the lovely ladies who attended the event and to the Winnock Hotel in Drymen for once again providing an excellent meal and service.

“Our entertainer for the evening was the fabulous Barbara Bryceland, who soon had the ladies joining in the singing and dancing.

“A great night was had by all.

“The raffle and special prizes were all donated by businesses and the community around us. There were two Cameron House lodge stays and a cordless vacumm cleaner and the ladies who won them were all delighted.

“We received a very generous donation of a wood stove and this received an excellent bid.

“All in all we are delighted to raise so much on the evening and our thanks must go to the Winnock Hotel, who not only provide the meal and venue but go out of their way to assist in any way with this annual event.

“Thanks also to all the ladies of the West Stirlingshire Friends of Strathcarron Hospice who organised the event.”
