Spell of settled weather not on horizon

-

The weekly weather conditions so far during May seem to be following each other with last week being yet another breezy and at times damp week with some sunny intervals, writes Observer weather editor Scott Mclean.

Despite the lack of settled weather during May we are still around one inch of rain less this month compared to May 2021. Top temperature last week was 19.3 Centigrade with a low of 6.1 Centigrade.

The maximum daily rainfall was 8.64mm on Monday, May 16, for a weekly total of 17.03mm.

Wind gusts reached 31mph on Wednesday,

May 18.

The final week of May will once again fail to see a spell of settled sunny weather with some more showers and a lot of cloud in the days ahead. We may see a few sunny intervals midweek but showers will once again be the main feature of the weather during the middle part of the week.

It will hopefully turn drier towards the end of the week and during the weekend but it will remain mostly cloudy. Daytime temperature topping at 19 Centigrade with lows down to 5 Centigrade. It will once again be blustery at times especially midweek with gusts up to 35mph.

Did You Know – Over the past years we usually see a good period of sunny weather during the month of May but so far that has not materialised this year which means our top temperature of 2022 so far remains from the month of April with 20.1 Centigrade.
