CHURCH
Service on Sunday, May 29 at 11.15am will be led by Rev Scott Brown. On June 1, the Wednesday Group meets at 10.30am in the Session Room. On Sunday, June 5 an open air service will be held at 10.30am on the football field. Bring your own seat and a packed picnic for after the service. If the weather is wet the service and picnic will be held in the church at the time given. A Flower Festival will be held today (Friday), tomorrow (Saturday) and Sunday and slide presentation of photographs taken between 1952 and 2022 of Buchlyvie events, people and organisations will be shown, both events will take place in the church. Full details of times and days will be found on posters displayed in the village. The BBC1 coverage of the Jubilee service in St Paul’s Cathedral will be live streamed in the church from just before 11.30am on Friday, June 3.
PLATINUM JUBILEE
There will be a flower festival in Buchlyvie Church today (Friday) and tomorrow (Saturday) from 10am till 4pm and Sunday from noon till 4pm. Celebration of the Queen and village life and organisations will be augmented by a rolling slide show of photos taken during her reign. Tea, coffee, strawberries and cream will be served. Entry is free, with donations welcome.
CALLANDER CALLANDER KIRK
Worship every Sunday at 11.15am led by Rev Jeff Mccormick. Everyone is welcome. The kirk is also livestreaming the Sunday service on to the Callander Kirk Facebook page and uploading a video of the service on to the Callander Kirk Youtube channel. Many thanks to everyone who attended and helped with Saturday’s community lunch on behalf of Christian Aid’s Ukrainian appeal. More than £500 was donated then and later, which added to the earlier collection at Easter means that more than £1300 has been gifted this spring in support of this special appeal. GARGUNNOCK OLD KIRKYARD TOURS
Gargunnock Kirk Welcome Team are offering free tours of the old kirkyard on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2pm, booking required. Visitors will hear stories about old Gargunnock including when the Jacobite Army marched past the Kirk in 1745 and 1746, the founding of the Gargunnock Agricultural Show, the coming of the first fresh water source in the village, the builder of the old school (now the community centre) and much more and see some amazing old photographs to bring it all to life. Tours take around 45 minutes for a maximum of eight people on each tour. Bigger groups can be taken at once as there are two tour guides available.
