Stirling County’s Manus Sahare was the star of the show in his team’s 67-run win over Langside in their latest Western Union Premier Division match at New Williamfield on Saturday.

The Stirling University Masters student came into bat after last week’s run-getters Matthew Tweedie and Brandon Mcmullen and after rebuilding the innings in a 116 partnership with Mikey Hay-smith he went into overdrive.

Sahare (pictured above) went on to score 171 not out - one of the club’s best amateur innings for many years - cracking 15 fours and eight sixes in 126 balls as County made 267 for five.

In reply, Langside flew out of the blocks - but it was that man Sahare who stopped them in their tracks, dismissing Azaiz Ahmad (45) and Anwar Hafeez (43) on his way to adding five for 39 to his massive innings as the Glasgow side ended 200 all out.

On Saturday, County are at home to Clydesdale. Matchball sponsor this week was Mailers Solicitors.

Stirling 2nds lost their first game of the season Western Union Division Four, going down by 78 runs to Bees (Clydesdale 3rd XI).

Alasdair Banks took five for 30 as Bees made 182 all out but Jonathan Bowes’48 was the only score of note for Stirling as they ended on 104 for eight.

On Saturday they travel to Inverclyde.
