PARISH CHURCH

There will be no service held at Aberfoyle Church on Sunday, instead churchgoer­s will be joining the Port Kirk at 10.30am for their service to celebrate the Jubilee. All welcome. Following the service all are invited to join with them at the nearby Village Hall for a light lunch and blether.

CHURCH

A Flower Festival will be held in Buchlyvie Church on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th June from 10 am to 4:00 pm also on Sunday the 5th June from 12:00 pm to 4 pm. There will be a slide presentati­on of events that have occurred in Buchlyvie during the Queen’s reign. The service on Sunday will be held on Buchlyvie football field from 10.30am and will be led by the Rev Scott Brown (bring your own seat). If there is rain the service will take place in the church. On June 8 the Wednesday Group will meet in the Session Room of the church from 10.30am. All welcomed at any of these events.

PLATINUM JUBILEE CELEBRATIO­NS

Members of Buchlyvie Hall Management Committee and Children and Old Folks Committee are joining forces to run an event to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The event will be called the Crazy Olympics and will consist of a series of fun sporting activities for kids - pre-school to Primary 7 including the three-legged football dribble, dressing up race, blindfolde­d penalty shootout and the ever popular Splat the Rat. The fun will start at 1pm tomorrow (Saturday) and will be held at the playing fields behind the school. Refreshmen­ts in the form of tea, coffee and juice will be available along with sandwiches, tray bakes and biscuits. Why not come along and watch the madness before visiting the more sedate floral festival in the church?

Members participat­ed at the Drymen Show on May 28. It was a busy day for rural members with competitio­ns, tombola and sales tables. Special thanks go to Phyllis Gilroy who took the lead in organising the items and contributo­rs for the “Community work – A day at the races”. Congratula­tions go to the whole team as Buchlyvie won first place and the Silver Cup presented by Gladys Farquharso­n. There were also winners in the Baking, Housewifer­y, Floral Art, Knitting, and Handcrafts. Well done to everyone who took part.

CALLANDER CALLANDER KIRK

Worship every Sunday at 11.15am led by Rev Jeff Mccormick. Everyone is welcome. As it’s the first Sunday of the month, there will be a celebratio­n of Communion during the service. GARGUNNOCK OLD KIRKYARD TOURS

Gargunnock Kirk Welcome Team are offering free tours of the old kirkyard on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 2pm, booking required. Visitors will hear stories about old Gargunnock including when the Jacobite Army marched past the Kirk in 1745 and 1746, the founding of the Gargunnock Agricultur­al Show, the coming of the first fresh water source in the village, the builder of the old school (now the community centre) and much more and see some amazing old photograph­s to bring it all to life. Tours take around 45 minutes for a maximum of eight people on each tour. Bigger groups can be taken at once as there are two tour guides available. Today (Friday) from 2-4pm the Platinum Jubilee Tea Party takes place in the Halls hosted by Killearn Brownies and Guides. This event is by invitation only. On Sunday, the Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated at 10.30am by Rev Stuart Sharp assisted By Probatione­r Minister Ruth Kennedy. In the afternoon, the car park is reserved for al fresco dining parties.
