City shopping centre’s year of fundraising

-

Staff at Stirling’s Thistles shopping centre have been helping tend the city’s Braehead Community Garden.

Volunteers carried out work over a number of weeks during the summer to improve facilities there.

It was part of the #Thistleshelps campaigns which started in 2021.

The work included giving the clubhouse a fresh lick of paint to bringing out a digger to construct new footpaths for the compost area and the bee house.

Braehead Coomunity Garden manager Daisy Muir said:“we were thrilled to have the lovely people at Thistles come and volunteer at the garden.“the generosity from them to come out and even source a digger meant that we were able to get the footpaths implemented and improve accessibility to the compost area which we wouldn’t have been able to do otherwise.

“The garden offers a place of respite to many of the locals and the new improvements are greatly appreciated from all that visit the garden and we hope to see many more come along in the new year.”

The Thistles said this week that the #Thistleshelps campaigns aim to benefit charities and communities in the Forth Valley area.

Thistles centre director Gary Turnbull said:“we were delighted to get out and help with the work being done at the Braehead community garden and even more thrilled to be there on the few days of good weather Scotland has to offer.

Thistles are looking for new community ventures to support in 2023.
