Views sought on masterplan
Callander residents and business owners are being asked for their views on proposed updates to the Callander South Masterplan - a longterm strategic plan for the development of land in Callander to the south of the River Teith.
An update to the planning guidance for the Callander South Masterplan Framework is being developed by the National Park Authority and Stirling Council, in consultation with area landowners and the community.
Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Authority said this week that the masterplan was first promoted in 2011, when the community agreed that future controlled development in Callander was necessary for the long-term sustainability of the town - providing land for new homes, businesses, land for community uses and visitors. The proposed updates, it added, would give greater clarity on how this infrastructure should be delivered and by whom, thereby aiming to deliver a more co-ordinated approach to development.
The overall approach remains unchanged, the authority said.
The key piece of infrastructure will be a new pedestrian and cycle bridge over the River Teith. A new bridge will better connect the whole town, create safer routes to the schools and enable future development of a network of footpaths and cycleways.
Once finalised, the guidance will help inform planning decisions that relate to the area and help support work with Stirling Council and the community to progress the improvements identified.
A six-week consultation is now underway and the community is encouraged to provide feedback.
