Competition fun for boys

-

January was a busy month for Boys’ Brigade competitions and members of Dunblane BB have been involved in many.

On Saturday, 12 boys from Dunblane represented Stirling & District Battalion as guests at Perth Battalion’s swimming gala, which was returning for the first time since the pandemic.

As guests, they weren’t eligible to win the team prizes on offer but regardless performed extremely well in all races, including having the fastest times in the Junior and Company/senior team relay races.

However, three boys did win impressive individual prizes with Noah Anderson (P4), Calum Tait (S2) and Ben Homoncik (P6) taking the overall individual prizes for their year groups, after great performance in several different individual races.

Meanwhile teams of boys have also been representing their company in the BB national badminton, table tennis, quiz and FIFA competitions, and this weekend the second round of the national five-a-side football gets under way for the two Dunblane teams in that tournament.

BB Captain Fraser Boyd said:“we were pleased to welcome two new members to our Anchor Boys section last week. This age group is for P1-P3 boys and we are keen to recruit more boys for our Wednesday meetings, which run from 6.15-7.15pm in the Cathedral Halls.

“Boys can enjoy an exciting weekly programme with lots of games, arts/crafts, bible stories/ drama, challenges and lots of opportunities to make new friendships.

“All boys are welcome, but please get in touch to register in advance by messaging @ dunblanebb on social media, emailing info@dunblanebb.org.uk or calling 01786 821387.”
