Fair Trade call to city
Fair Trade Stirling is reaching out to all businesses and other organisations that sell fair trade goods in Stirling.
With support from Stirling Council, Fair Trade Stirling maintains a map and list showing people where they can buy fair trade items locally.
The list and map are up for renewal so now is the chance for businesses and organisations to let people know about the fair trade products they can buy from them.
Jon Cape, coordinator of Fair Trade Stirling, said“people often just think of tea or coffee or perhaps bananas when they think of fair trade, but the range is so much wider now – like soap or sugar or strawberry jam.
“You just need to know where to go to find them.”
Councillor Rachel Nunn, who is the member of Fair Trade Stirling representing Stirling Council, said: “As consumers today question the affordability of their purchases, increasingly they also ask themselves,‘does this purchase contribute to the circular economy, is it sustainable, or does it contribute towards global equity?’. Those who trade Fairtrade items help consumers have confidence that the answer to these questions is‘yes’.
“This map is a great opportunity for all local businesses who feel passionately about these matters as the council does, to spread the word that Fairtrade goods are widely available.”
If you sell fair trade items get in touch by sending your information to Declan O’callaghan declanocallaghan88@ gmail.com.
Please include an indication of the types of fair trade goods you sell and highlight any that may be a bit more unusual.
