After a Covid-dictated gap of two years, Dunblane Branch of the Scottish National Party will hold their Burns Supper in the Victoria Hall on Saturday February 18 (7 for 7.30 pm). Chairman Keith Brown MSP will introduce a star-studded line-up of speakers: Mike Russell, President of the SNP, will give The Immortal Memory; Roza Salih (one of the original ‘Glasgow Girls’) will deliver the Toast to Scotland; and MSPS Jim Fairlie and Michelle Thomson will cross swords in the Toast to the Lasses and the Reply. Stuart Hepburn is performing ‘Tam o Shanter’; and music and song by Gareth Perrie, Kenny Forsyth and friends. Three-course dinner with vegetarian options, followed by tea and coffee. As Rev Mike Goodison was leading worship in Alva on Sunday, we welcomed Rev Anne Shearer back to Menstrie. She reminded us that some things, once released, can’t be put back and that includes words. As usual, there was the chance to share fellowship after the service over a cuppa. T-in 2 continues weekly on Wednesday from 10.30 am until noon and all welcome. The Guild held a Burns’ Supper on Monday afternoon where food and entertainm­ent were enjoyed by all. Please remember to return completed ‘Sweetie Quiz’ sheets to Laura or Betty. We continue to collect for the Gate foodbank and donations are always gratefully received. The latest delivery is scheduled for this week, being after the last Sunday of the month.
