House on old cattle shed site
A new house is to be built on the site of a former cattle shed near Dunblane.
Stirling Council planners have conditionally approved an application by Mark Drumm for the single storey house on land 240 metres north west of Inns of Balhaldie Farm, Sheriffmuir.
In their decision, they said:“the site was originally a cattle shed in relation to the adjacent farm and was granted planning permission for a dwelling house in 2017. The site is located within the countryside and the Battle Of Sheriffmuir Battlefield.
“The cattle shed has since been removed from the site and the consent was not built out. Considering the previous structure on the site, the proposal will result in the beneficial re-use of a brownfield site.
“The proposed development is for a single storey dwelling house with rooms in the roof space. The property is a simple‘t’shaped building with two small dormer windows on the south west elevation.
“The siting of the dwelling sits within the footprint of the previous cattle shed building.
“The overall design and material palette chosen is considered to be in keeping with the countryside location and wider setting. The proposed development is relatively low impact and is considered to be in keeping with the wider landscape setting. The development will not impact upon any trees.
“The property will be serviced by a private track road from the adjacent farm. Access onto the public highway will be via an existing access onto the A9 which is a Trunk Road. Transport Scotland were consulted and raised no objection to the application.
“The application site is located on the Battle Of Sheriffmuir Battlefield. The council archaeologist was consulted and recommended a programme of archaeological works prior to works on site.”
