Hospice’s vital fundraiser to launch again
February is the month Strathcarron Hospice celebrates a much loved flower by launching The Strathcarron Snowdrop Fundraising Appeal.
The local hospice charity provides specialist palliative and end of life care for the people of Denny and surrounding communities (Forth Valley, Cumbernauld and Kilsyth).
The Snowdrop is Strathcarron’s symbol, signifying renewal and growth.
The first flower to bloom at the end of winter, it gives a nod that it’s the beginning of spring, so brings with it a feeling of hope.
Strathcarron fundraising manager Jackie Johnston said: “Our Snowdrop Garden is just coming into bloom. Patients and their families, as well as our staff always look forward to seeing these tiny white flowers pushing their way through the cold earth to bloom once again.
“We love seeing people wearing their snowdrop pins with pride.
“The Snowdrop Appeal fundraiser will help to raise the £14,632 daily cost of hospice specialist end of life care and services our charity provides free to individuals and their families across local communities.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our generous supporters.
“Without your donations, as a hospice charity we just could not carry on.”
The local community can show its support for Strathcarron Hospice’s Snowdrop Appeal this month in a number of different ways.
Wear your Strathcarron Snowdrop pin and let everyone know why you are wearing it. These can be purchased from many businesses across local communities. If you or anyone you know, operates a small business or shop, you can get a box of Snowdrop pins for customers to buy.
Virtually plant a snowdrop in Strathcarron’s online garden. Dedicate the flower to someone special or in memory of a loved one and see it bloom.
If you’re planning a winter or spring wedding, some brides like to purchase Strathcarron snowdrops for their guests, in memory of a loved one.”
