-

A local care at home service has been praised by the Care Inspectorate.

Bright Care (Stirling), based in Bridge of Allan, provides housing support and care for older people in their own homes.

Service delivery ranges from two hours per week to 24 hour live-in support.

During a short notice inspection on January 16, the inspector spoke with five people using the service and three of their families as well as nine members of staff and management as well as making their own observations.

The service was then rated as having good leadership and very good for supporting people’s wellbeing,

The inspector’s report said:“staff treated people with compassion, dignity and respect. People described them as professional and first class service. There is consistent care staff to provide care and support, which resulted in meaningful relationships being established.

“Support plans were personcentred and reflective of people’s care needs. The management team were approachable, supportive and provided guidance when required.

“Some audits and field observations had taken place, although not as frequently as the service would have liked.

“The people who received the service and their relatives told us that communication from carers and the care manager staff was very good. We were told that the office staff were accessible and helpful.

“People were involved in making decisions about their physical and emotional wellbeing through their personal plans. The administration of medication was managed well.

“People were confident giving feedback and raising concerns.”
