League leaders Milton are poetry in motion

MILTON ........................................... 6 RHU ................................................. 0

Milton extended their lead at the top of the First Division when they hit Rhu for six at the weekend.

The home side welcomed Rhu to Forthbank to play on the artificial surface due to the wet condition of Bluebell Wood. This was the second outing against Rhu in the league this season and the visitors had a score to settle following Milton’s convincing win last time round.

Milton started the strongest but the score remained 0-0 after their various attempts failed to hit the back of the net.

It was in the 28th minute that Milton took the lead with an opener from their striker Dean Johnston.

Milton kept pressing for a second goal, but a frustrated Rhu lost their discipline, resulting in a red card being shown just minutes before half time, to give them a mountain to climb in the second half.

The second half started in a similar fashion, with Milton pressing the 10 men of Rhu and it wasn’t long until a penalty was awarded which was converted by Milton’s top goal scorer Calum Hendrie.

That goal took the wind out of the visitors’sails and the floodgates opened when Milton netted a third through Jack Zarebski.

Calum Hendrie and Zarebski found themselves back on the score sheet, scoring the fourth and fifth goals.

With time on the clock remaining, the Milton coaches made substitutions, allowing Michael Preston to score the final goal of the match as Milton ran out convincing winners to stretch their lead at the top of the table to seven points.
