Man, 67, dies after three-car collision
Passenger‘serious but stable’,two other drivers‘stable’
A 67-year-old man has died following a horror road smash on a Hillfoots road last week.
The man died following a crash that saw three others rushed to hospital.
The three-car collision occurred on the A91, near Alva, on Thursday, February 9. At around 11.20am, a red Fiat 500, a red Kia Picanto and a blue Honda CR-V collided on the eastbound carriageway, between Menstrie and Alva.
Initially, police said that four people were hospitalised, including the 67-year-old male driver of the Fiat 500 who sustained serious head injuries. However, it was confirmed this week that the man had died.
His 58-year-old female passenger’s condition is described as serious but stable. The 75-year-old female driver of the red Kia Picanto and the 62-year-old female driver of the blue Honda CR-V remained in hospital for treatment. Their conditions were described by medical staff as stable.
A Police Scotland spokesperson this week told the Observer: “A 67-yearold man has died following a crash on the A91 between Menstrie and Alva in Clackmannanshire.
“The incident happened around 11.20am on Thursday, February 9, and involved a red Fiat 500, a red Kia Picanto and a blue Honda CR-V.
“The four occupants of the cars, a man and three women, were all taken by ambulance to Forth Valley Royal Hospital, Larbert.
“The 67-year-old male driver of the Fiat died in hospital on Saturday, February 11.”
Constable Kieran Grant, of the Roads Policing Unit at Stirling, last week said: “We would ask anyone who witnessed the crash, who has not yet been spoken to police, to come forward. If you have any information that may assist our enquiry, or have dash-cam footage from the road around the time of the collision, then please call police.”
Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact police on 101, quoting reference 1111 of February 9.
