Game for fine foods at market?

-

Stirling Farmers’market is back on Port Street this Saturday from 10am till 4pm with 14 stalls of some of Scotland’s finest food, drink and crafts.

This week sees the return of Fife-based Woodmill Game, the market’s new venison producers following Winston Churchill Venison’s retirement from farmers’markets.

“It’s a great honour to take over from Winston and Anne at Stirling Farmers’ Market”, says Woodmill’s founder Steven Wade.“they’ve been great innovators in the Scottish wild game world and are some of the loveliest people you could hope to meet. Their passion and enthusiasm for Scotland’s natural larder has helped put lean ethical and sustainable meat on tables across the UK and beyond.”

As well as bringing venison in its more traditional forms of mince, steaks, tenderloins and roasts, Woodmill also put a modern twist on game with Thai red venison curry and pigeon pate amongst their products on offer as well as their signature sausage range including venison and black pudding and pheasant and ginger, which will be available for tasting on Port Street this Saturday.

Stallholders at this week’s market will also be offering sourdough breads and rolls, fresh fish and shellfish, highland beef, cheese, butter and oatcakes, quiches and croissants, Ayrshire vegetables, authentic Greek and Italian cuisine, free range hen and duck eggs, honey, jams and chutneys, French and Scottish pastries and baking, pies, handmade soaps, and a selection of craft and gift ideas.

Stirling Farmers’market is held on the second and fourth Saturday of every month.
