Winter returns at dawn of Spring

-

Winter returned last week to Stirling with freezing temperatures and some snow.

The middle of last week was the coldest part of the week when the overnight low dropped to -6.9C in the Stirling city area which was our lowest temperature of 2023 so far and the lowest since the middle of December last year.

Our area missed the worst of the snow last week which stayed further south but over the weekend we did see snow for a few hours late on Saturday night and into Sunday morning which covered the area with around 2cm of snow.

The average weekly temperature was just above 1C which was our coldest week since the middle of January.

This coming week is set to be unsettled at times with low temperatures still hanging around.

The week will begin with a wet start on Monday with rain, which later in the day could turn wintry.

A brighter day on Tuesday with some sunny intervals but more wet weather is set to return for the middle part of the week which again could be wintry at times turning to sleet and possibly snow.

It will remain mostly cloudy at the end of the week and over the weekend with the risk of some rain. Daytime temperatures will be between 3C to 7C with overnight temperatures dropping to below freezing especially during the middle part of the week.

Breezy at the beginning of the week.

Did You know? – An early heads up that in less than two weeks British Summer Time will begin which means that by the end of March sunset will be just before 8pm and the countdown to the long summer nights can begin.
