Tickets on sale now for Eilidh Brown fundraiser

-

Tickets are now on sale for a major fundraiser for the charity founded in memory of Stirling teenager Eilidh Brown.

Following on the success of last year’s first Ladies That Sparkle Lunch, another event is being held on Saturday June 10.

Once again the King Robert Hotel is sponsoring the lunch so that all the ticket money will be going directly to the charity, and Kilgannon Motors are back as one of the entertainment sponsors.

A spokesperson for the Eilidh Brown Memorial Fund said:“gina Mckie is hosting it again and this year we have the award winning Scottish performer Jack Robertson to entertain us. We’ll be finishing off with Gordon The DJ.”“

A respite and holiday home for children and young people with cancer near Thornhill was officially opened by Scottish rockers The Fratellis last year.

After Eilidh passed away from a rare form of cancer 12 years ago, just days before her 16th birthday, her parents Gordon and Nicole appealed to the people of Stirling to get behind their bid to create the house.

Locals responded by raising more than £600,000 through everything from marathons to bake sales. However, ongoing fundraising is vital for the maintenance and upkeep of the house.

While previous estimates have suggested that around £50-60,000 a year would have to be raised annually, that figure could rise given the current cost of living crisis and energy costs.
