Foodbank donations welcome

-

Audience members at the latest Stirling and Bridge of Allan Operatic Society show are being invited to bring along foodbank donations.

Made in Dagenham opens at the Macrobert Centre next week.

Mindful of the cost of living crisis, SABOS are supporting local charity Startup Stirling, and are inviting audiences to bring donations along to each performance.

Carol Findlay, community fundraiser for the charity, said: “Startup Stirling are delighted to team up with SABOS, who will host donation stations at the Macrobert Centre. All food donations will support those living in hardship in the Stirling Council area.”

SABOS Musical Theatre is staging the vibrant new musical, which celebrates the story of Essex factory workers in 1968 who fought for justice at a time when women were often treated – and paid – like second class citizens. Their action finally brought about the Equal Pay Act of 1970.

Audiences can expect lots of earthy humour and uplifting songs, as well as lively political satire. Among the show’s principal characters are Labour PM Harold Wilson and firebrand Cabinet Minister Barbara Castle, who played a vital role in securing victory for the women’s cause.

Jo Mckie, who plays Barbara in Made in Dagenham, said: “It’s a daunting but thrilling role. She made a huge impact at a time when politics was still a man’s world. Rehearsals have been a great laugh – audiences will love the banter between her and Harold Wilson.”

SABOS also have a ‘Pay What You Can’ ticket offer – ten tickets are available on a ‘Pay What You Can’ basis for performances on Tuesday, March 28 and Wednesday, March 29, so you can attend the show but pay only as much as you can afford, no questions asked.

Reservations are limited to a maximum of two tickets per household and issued on a first come first served basis. Email sabosmusicaltheatre@ gmail.com or send a private message on Facebook to @ sabosmusicaltheatre.
