Doune Library has reopened its doors to the public following essential repairs and upgrades.

The popular library has been closed since February to allow repairs to remedy water ingress and reroute electricity within the building.

Users will also notice that the library has been given a refurbishment. Fresh painting, new carpeting and PC desks in addition to an improved layout has given the facility a bright new look.

IT connectivity to the building has also been enhanced.

The library, which reopened on Tuesday, has also introduced new opening hours in line with user feedback.

Community wellbeing and housing convener Councillor Gerry Mcgarvey said: “Doune Library offers a vital service to the local community and is a well-liked facility. I’m incredibly pleased to see it back up and running following some essential repairs.

“The repairs and upgrades have given the building interior a facelift and will improve user experience of the library.

“This investment underlines Stirling Council’s commitment to key community hubs to ensure they properly serve the needs of local residents.”

A resident has praised Trading Standards workers after they stepped in to help him recover over £3700.

Robert Fleming was devastated after being left out of pocket when the solar battery system installed at his home turned out to be faulty.

It was installed back in September and had never worked properly.

Earlier this year Mr Fleming, 88, from Clackmannanshire, raised a Section 75 claim with his bank to recover the cash as his system was still not working.

This was despite numerous attempts to get the company involved to remedy the situation.

But as the company had taken a payment via another business name and Mr Fleming had not received any official paperwork in relation to the works, his claim was turned down by his bank.

It was then Mr Fleming turned to Stirling and Clackmannanshire Trading
