Get your trainers on as gala day fun run returns
People of all ages and abilities are being invited to take part in a village’s annual fun run.
The 34th annual Doune Gala Fun Run will take place at Moray Park, Doune on Sunday, June 25, attracting over 100 runners from the local community, clubs and more.
The event includes a 6k and 2.5k run, with a route which will take in some of the most beautiful countryside the area has to offer including Doune Ponds and the Commonty Walk on a mixture of trails, paths, and road.
The popular event has been well supported with sponsorship from Harvey Maps and Kilmadock Community Trust. Other local partners getting involved include The Woodside Pub, The Doune Ponds Volunteers, Kelly’s Core Fitness and Whatknot sports massage.
Adding to the buzzing event atmosphere, Active Stirling will be in attendance providing fun games and sports for those coming along to support the races.
Registration is from 9.30am, with the races starting at 11am.
Event organiser with Doune Gala Committee, Alan Hume said:“this race is for everyone! Whether you run, jog, or walk. You are all winners. We look forward to seeing you for a great day out.”
Christopher Mckenna, community activation officer with Active Stirling, added:“the Doune Gala Fun Run is always a popular event, and a great day out for the whole family.
“Active Stirling are proud to support active community events, and we will be bringing a variety of games and activities for all ages and abilities.”
Doune Gala Committee is also looking for volunteers. If you could support this event as a marshal, first aider, help at registration, record times, supply home baking or assist with the set up before and after the run, the help would be much appreciated.
