Wellbeing events in Callander

-

Mental health has been the focus of activities in Callander this week organised by a newly established group.

As well as fundraising and pub and family quizzes over the last few days, Callander Mental Health Matters will tie up the week with some more activities, including a sponsored walk and a concert.

Mclaren High School pupils will be taking part in a sponsored walk today (Friday), while tomorrow (Saturday) at 7pm sees the Evening of Hope concert, in aid of Baton of Hope, in Callander Kirk. The group was the idea of Dakem Tenzing- Jenkins who lives in the area.

And recently Stirling Council unanimously passed a motion fronted by Trossachs and Teith councillors Martin Earl and Elaine Watterson congratulating the group during Mental Health Awareness Week.

In it, Councillor Earl said: “Callander Mental Health Matters is a group that has come together to organise a series of events in Callander throughout the week. These events will not only raise awareness but much needed funds for the following three charities.

“Action in Mind is a community mental health charity based in Stirling that supports people with mental health difficulties, their families and carers living across the Forth Valley; Rookie Rockstars Work with young people providing counselling services and music based courses; and the Canmore Trust is a Callander based charity that seeks to create safe spaces for all lives impacted by suicide, help those in suicidal distress and provide the support necessary to do so.

“The council congratulates the Callander group and thanks them and all those taking part in Mental Health Awareness week across the council area.”
