Playwright John is hoping to hit the right note with his satire on celebrity
STOCKPORT PLAZA
THEATRE-LOVERS will have the chance to watch a new comedy-musical with a difference later this month.
Game of Souls, written by Bramhall-raised playwright John Waterhouse, will pay a visit to Stockport Plaza on Thursday, May 28.
It is the 10th play written by Mr Waterhouse but his first to incorporate songs and live music.
The show is described as a satire on celebrity obsessed culture which questions the lengths some people will go to in the pursuit of fame.
Mr Waterhouse, who now lives in Poynton, said: “It’s a dynamic, new show blending comedy with music as two demons play a hellish game of Chess, using famous humans on earth as Chess pieces.
“It doesn’t aim to preach but hopefully it will give people food for thought. It questions whether there’s too much emphasis on big personalities and the pursuit of fame for the sake of it.”
