Experience on hand at Vale for Allan

ALLAN Duffy is the new kid on the block at Reddish Vale Golf Club as he looks forward to an exciting year at the club.

Allan has been a member for many years, putting in plenty of voluntary hours of service for his club and he is delighted to receive the honour of being appointed as captain.

Allan said: “I join Graham Kennedy, the president, and Sheila Brookes, the lady captain, who are both in their second successive years in their roles – so they will be able to give me plenty of helpful advice.

“It is a privilege to be the captain and I look forward to a great and progressiv­e year ahead.”

Vale’s men played a singles Stableford with Adrian Ord top of the shop with 40 points from Francis Brown 39 and Paul Mumford 37.

Disley’s men played a medal and top of the divisions were Jim Bull 68, John Stockley after a cpo on 67 with Angus Goodall and Graham Bowers after a cpo on 71 with Dennis Major and ian Eeles.

Disley’s ladies were also in medal action with G Hunt winning a cpo on 69 from E Critchlow with L Pulley a shot off the pace.

Stockport’s men played for the Pensioners Pot and Peter Roche posted a fine 67 to see off a strong challenge from John Ormiston 68 and Peter Oldham 70.

At the other end of the age scale Stockport juniors played a singles Stableford led in by Matthew Atkinson with 36 points from Sam hall 33 and Zac Smith 32.

The first monthly medal of the season for Stockport’s men had Ben Shea winning division one after a cpo on 66 with Oliver Shea. In division two John Ormiston led in with 68, four less than John Morley.

Stockport ladies were also in medal mode with Lis Wilson showing her county class with 74 seeing her top division one by two shots from Laura Stewart.

Anne Coley cruised home in division two with her 71 seeing her seven shots clear of the field.

Bramall Park’s men played their monthly medal and Rabbits Prize with the divisional hotshots being R Harris 66, P Brendencam­p 69 and G Howard 66.

Park’s ladies played a singles Stableford and Maggie Briggs won a cpo on 37 points from Amanda Worne with Jackie Cookson a point off the pace.

A junior Stableford at Bramhall was won by Elliot Payne after a cpo on 31 points with Ben Levene.

Medal action for Bramhall ladies had the divisions topped by Caroline McGeorge 71, Colette Bryant 69, Claudia Cresswell 71 and Ruth Riley 74.

Stockport Golf Club’s assistant pro Danny Wardrop took a big step towards winning the Manchester Alliance’s profession­al Order of Merit with a fine double at an excellent Marriott Worsley Park extending his substantia­l lead at the top of the OoM table. The quality of the venue attracted a top-class field and Wardrop tied in top spot in the individual profession­al section with in-form Chorley assistant Andy Palmer with 40 points.

Then Danny and his dad Mike (Didsbury) who leads the amateur Order of Merit led in the pro am section with 44 points ahead of Andy Palmer and Horwich’s Ken Ashton 43, Olly Pantoja (Dunham Forest) and Steve McDermott (Ashton-onMersey) 41, and Tytheringt­on’s Nick Holmes and Tom Lindley (Ellesmere) who won a cpo on 40 points from Mark Smith (Stamford) and Damien Travers (Denton.
