Atkinson hitting the high notes in Premier

STEVE Atkinson turned on a superb performanc­e in the Stockport Individual Premier League, when he fired home 22, 17, 14, 15 and 17 darts in a tremendous game with Mick Cosgrove (18, 18 and 13). He followed that with more top darts of 17, 18, 24, 19 and 11 to beat Stinger Wray 5-0.

Cosgrove (24, 25, 23, 23 and 18) collected the points in his second outing with a 5-1 win over Mark Daniels and was joined by Wray with darts of 20, 18, 18, 18 and 17 and a 154 outshot in his 5-1 success over Derek Higgins.

Steve Gallimore won his opening game 5-0 against Ben Simpson in 23, 21, 21, 16 and 14 darts, before shots of 24, 16, 24, 13 and 19 gave him a five straight leg win over Daniels.

Ian Walters continued his fine form by checking out in 17, 13, 19, 14 and 19 to defeat Steve Pritchard 5-1. He then moved on by hitting his doubles in 21, 21, 19, 15 and 22 darts to record a 5-1 win against Frank Guest.

Dave Adshead (20, 20, 21, 15 and 16) turned on the power to take out Alan Wilkinson 5-0, before top darts of 16, 20, 13, 18 and 16 gave the Warrington star a 5-1 victory over Lee Taylor (17), who was in top form for his final game when he reached his doubles in 18, 16, 21, 17 and 17 to beat Higgins 5-2.

Terry Harrison had mixed fortunes, losing his opening game 5-3 against Tom Booth in 18, 22, 19, 21 and 24, but made amends by winning 5-3 in his second game with shots of 23, 20, 26, 27 and 22 over Ray Gamble.

Stockport Sharpshoot­er Paul Taylor was in top form when he checked out in 20, 18, 17, 18 and 14 against Wilkinson in his only game of the night.

In the Stockport Super League unbeaten Armoury B out gunned Union B 5-2, Mark McGeeny (19, 15) Buck Rogerson (27, 11) and Danny Kay (23, 27) were their main winners.

Star and Garter A helped by Atkinson (16, 18) Colin Smith (22, 17) Lee Taylor (23, 18) Mick Cosgrove (23, 20) and Adam Oldham (23, 23) enjoyed a 5-2 win at Armoury A.

Fingerpost edged 4-3 at Klondyke Club, where Nathan Aspinall (18, 16) Dave Airey (13, 24) Steve Pritchard (20, 19) and Shaun Barlow (29, 23) were the visitors winners, Terry Jepson (16, 19) John Millington (22, 24) and Paul Pertoldi (27, 21) replied for Klondyke.

Kenilworh outsmarted Reddish Working Mens Club 5-2, Paul Clark (21, 18) Mark Hallam (23, 19) and Paul Knight (23, 24) were their top players.

Grange Club blasted Union A 6-1 in Premier Division, Terry Harrison (21, 24) Aaron Lee (23, 19) and Dion Salt (23, 27) were all in fine form for the league leaders.

The Bob Fayle Memorial knockout will take place this Friday 8.30pm at the Star and Garter, entrance fee is £5 per person, there is prize money for the winner and runner up, plus the Bob Fayle trophy for the winner.
