Vic out of the blocks with a record run

- BOWLS JAMIE BRAMLEY

VICTORIA Bowling Club from Offerton have made a record-breaking start to the S and D Season.

It’s many years since The Vic opened up the season with four straight wins and they are playing superbly. Last Tuesday saw the team record yet another victory with a 9-7 defeat of The Nursery at Green Lane.

It’s Adshead Cup this week with Victoria facing LMRCA from the second division at Houldsworth WMC. Perhaps the acid test of their progress will come on Tuesday 19th May when they face league champions Houldsworth WMC at Webb Lane. Elsewhere in the division Waggon and Horses are the form away team winning again on the road 12-4 at Crown Hotel.

Houldsworth took eight and the aggregate against a depleted Grapes Hotel.

It looked like Poynton Sports were going to start a title challenge but they come unstuck with five winners and no aggregate away at New Mills.

In the second division Great Moor are simply blowing it apart and are a mile clear already. Their latest success was seven more winners and the aggregate at home to a struggling LMRCA.

The second spot in that division looks open for anyone with Hadfield and Woodley Sports showing the most promise so far.

The third division has seen George and Dragon Seconds begin very well and lead the way from Navigation and Railway.

In the fourth tier West Heaton top the tree with Offerton Social Club leading the basement division.

In the Stockport Parks League champions Ladybridge started well winning away at Houldsworth WMC.

Paul Elliott’s crushing 21-4 blow proved the catalyst for victory for the team from Cheadle Hulme. This coming Sunday Cheshire Parks Seniors and Veterans are in action looking for signs of improvement. On Saturday round 2 of the prestigious Brunner Cup took place with Stockport based clubs involved. Selected results as follows:
