Croft cleans up as New Mills slump
THE rain managed to claim several fixtures in the PS Derbyshire & Cheshire Cricket League but elsewhere matches were played out in full as the weather cleared.
In Division One, Broadbottom travelled to New Mills and posted 191 all out, A Walsh with 30, Chris Cheetham-Roberts 56 and Jay Riley 39 as Malc Strong took 6-48. Steve Croft then took 6-18 for Broadbottom as New Mills slumped to 72 all out.
Woodley won the toss and elected to bat at home to Compstall closing on 173-9, Ryan Murphy making 32 while D Hegginbotham took 3-85.
Compstall were then bowled out for 143 despite 49 from S Jackson as Connor Cramwell took 6-57 and Danny Kay 4-47.
Dinting continued their strong start to the season as they batted first against visitors Tintwistle and posted 180-6, Adam Wilson with 69 and Greg Harwick 60. Tintwistle then struggled against the bowling of Peter Hills (4-40) and Greg Harwick (3-17) as they could only make 129-9.
Old Glossop made the journey to Hayfield and were 215 all out. Hayfield struggled in reply and had number 11 M Hill to thank for their 152 all out as he struck 69 while Rob Adderley took 4-40 and D Hall 3-43.
No play was possible between Mottram and Hawk Green or Whaley Bridge and Hadfield.
Dove Holes chose to bat first in their Division Two clash at Hazel Grove and made a patient start to their innings with Shaun Cartledge making 51 before Tom Forder was unleashed, smashing 74 not out as Ian Halford took 4-55.
Rick Burke then hit 74 and Geoff Noden 35 but there was no explosive end as Hazel Grove closed on 179-7, Dave Cartledge taking 3-49 and Jack Gregory 3-56.
Hollingworth were restricted to 105-9 by visiting High Lane, Mike Knight with 30 as Tyler Eiselt took 4-43 and Josh Noel 3-9. G Hughes then finished 37 not out as High Lane raced to 106-2.
Offerton batted first at home to Newton and were bowled out for 102, J Koria taking 4-31 and L Turner 3-27. S Nugent then made 54 not out as Newton closed on 104-5, S Kirkham taking 3-45.
In Division Three, New Mills travelled to Broadbottom and hit 210-5, Alistair Stevens making 57 and M Collinge 52.
It wasn’t to be enough though as Broadbottom saw M Greenhalgh score 62, J Rowbottom 51 and Phil Rowston 41 in a total of 211-5.
Hawk Green posted a total of 115-6 in 35 overs against Mottram with Luke Young top scoring on 39. Jack Needham then took 5-13 and T Chetwyn 3-17 as Mottram were bowled out for just 66.
Newton were all out for 131 batting first against visiting Dinting, M Stringer with 45 as J Acomb took 3-28 and E Walsh 3-21.
Dinting were then bowled out for just 100 despite A Radcliffe scoring 34, A Turner taking 3-15, Mark Barnard 3-31 and J Hoctor 3-24 for the home side.
The game between Dove Holes and Woodley was abandoned without a ball being bowled.
In Division Four, Hazel Grove travelled to Compstall and made 214-4 thanks to opener Andy Oldfield scoring 148 as he made the most of being dropped without scoring.
Ravi Patel then struck 42 and J Attiyah 37 but the Compstall scoring was never up with the required run rate and they closed on 137-8.
Tintwistle batted first at home to Offerton and were 139-3 as P Barrow hit 34. The home side then restricted Offerton to 131-9 despite 36 from T Woolley, Kev Nield taking 4-30.
No play was possible in either the game between Chapel and Birch Vale or High Lane and Whaley Bridge.
