Victims tell of their ordeals

-

VICTIMS of Victorino Chua have described how his poisoning attacks have left their lives in ruins.

Grant Misell, 41, from Hazel Grove, admitted he couldn’t hold down a job stacking shelves in his local supermarket after suffering a catastrophic brain injury caused by Chua.

He had previously worked as a financial markets manager handling multi-millionpound deals.

His struggles to cope were outlined in a victim impact statement his sister helped him to write and part of which was read out in court before Chua was sentenced.

It ends: “In short, the attack has destroyed my life, not only in financial terms but in the area of self-esteem and selfworth. I now feel completely worthless and can see no way forward to improve this in the future.”

Bank clerk Zubia Aslam, 24, Chua’s final insulin poisoning victim, said she has become ‘withdrawn and depressed’ and struggles with her job and home life.

Derek Weaver’s sister Lynda slammed Chua’s ‘diabolical acts’ adding: “I think he’s so evil.”

Murder victim Mr Weaver, a retired company director, 83, was convulsing violently and appeared to be in agony because of the insulin.

Another murder victim, tax watchdog worker Tracey Arden, 44, who had a degenerative disease, suffered an eight-hour bout of hypoglycaemia which hasted her death.

Her mother said in her victim impact statement: “Tracey battled for 12 years with her illness and was still fighting. It hurts to know that she wanted to fight and the chance to keep going was taken away from her.

“It should have been her choice to stop and die peacefully and naturally.”
