POLICE believe Victorino Chua was a ‘narcissistic psychotic’ who took out his simmering anger on patients every time he felt challenged – and enjoyed the suffering and chaos he caused.
Detectives point to his attack on Bramhall pensioner Maria Pawlyszyn, 86, whose prescription he secretly altered along with six others hours after a furious bust-up with her daughter.
He had a blazing row with Maria Dodd who insisted her mother, who had been admitted with a suspected heart attack, should be placed on a heart monitor.
Chua point-blank refused and Ms Dodd told him: “If anything happens to my mother in the night then you will have me to answer to.”
Later he returned to the patient with a heart monitor and threw it onto her bedside table.
Furious Chua had been forced to abandon the poisoning spree he had started a few months earlier because security at the hospital had been stepped up.
Police suspected he was behind a series of thefts of jewellery from patients after the poisonings during the summer, but they could find no proof he was responsible.
