Guns and explosives seized at remote farm

TWO people were arrested after police seized firearms and explosives in a raid at a farmhouse in Stockport.

Officers discovered a number of weapons at the remote house on Old Hall Lane, Mellor, last Wednesday (May 13).

Bomb disposal experts assessed the explosives and two GMP tactical aid units and crime scene investigat­ors were at the farm all day.

The property was cordoned off for several hours and police were working at the scene well into the afternoon.

Neighbours in Mellor said the farmhouse is occupied by a man in his sixties.
