Passenger is critical after crash

A MAN is in a critical condition after a car crash in Stockport.

Police were called to Adswood Road at its junction with Rostrevor Road at about 8.30pm on Saturday.

Officers found a Vauxhall Astra had collided with a Renault flatbed recovery vehicle carrying a BMW.

The front-seat passenger of the Astra, a man aged 37, suffered a serious head injury, internal injuries and injuries to his pelvis and neck and was taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

The driver of the Astra and the recovery truck were uninjured.

Firefighte­rs spent about 45 minutes at the scene getting the man out of the car before handing him over to the care of paramedics, according to a spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
