Young traders given a chance to set out stall

-

TEENAGE traders will be showcasing their creative talents this weekend at an event which supports budding entrepreneurs.

Stockport Teenage Market helps to promote young traders by giving them a free stall to sell their own products.

It will run alongside the usual weekly Saturday market from 10am-4pm in a bid to attract new shoppers to the historic Old Town area.

The event will also have a festival feel with dance groups in the Market Square and acoustic performers at the Seven Miles Out arts centre.

Stockport is one of five towns and cities holding a Teenage Market this weekend as part of the national Love Your Local Market fortnight campaign.

Joe Barratt, 22, who founded the market with his 20-year-old brother Tom three years ago, said: “Not only does The Teenage Market help young people to kickstart their businesses but it also gets them engaged with their town centre and brings a new vibrancy and excitement to market areas.”
