‘The links we have found are to organised crime’

One of the Stockport hotspots for cannabis farms is Brinnington and of the 37 found in the last 12 months 17 have been in the north policing area.

This includes Brinnington as well as Reddish and the Heatons.

Eleven were in the west area – including Adswood, Bramhall, Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme and Heald Green.

The remaining nine were in the east area – Romiley, Bredbury, Hazel Grove, Offerton, Marple and High Lane.

Insp Cook added: “A big part of the information we get is from the public, without this information we can’t move forward in a lot of cases.

“While for obvious reasons we can’t always go back and thank these people directly we are grateful and will act upon it.”
