Three escape blazing car
THREE people escaped unhurt after a car flipped over on a country lane.
A police helicopter searched countryside in Disley after the accident as the driver and passengers were unaccounted for.
Emergency services were called to Mudhurst Lane, in Disley, in the early hours of last Wednesday (May 13) following reports the car had overturned.
The car caught light – it was not known if this was deliberate or as a result of the crash – and four fire crews were called as it was reported someone was trapped inside. But when firefighters arrived no one was at the scene.
Police were unable to find any individuals from the car, despite a prolonged air search.
Since the accident, two men and a woman have been accounted for and police are taking no further action.
Fire crews had to wait at the scene two hours for the car to be removed. They were unable to leave as the road was too narrow to pass the car or reverse back to the main road.
Tom Murray, from Offerton fire station, said: “We were called to a car that had turned on its side with the possibility of people inside.”
