It’s back to business and plans for growth
WELL, with the election over we can all get back to doing business again and making plans for growth.
Whilst we consider these plans it’s good to take a look at Stockport town centre, and the ambitious plans the council have for improving the area over the next five years and beyond.
These big capital projects are great but they do take time to put together. In the meantime I’ve joined up with a team of likeminded individuals to form Vision Stockport to concentrate on making the town centre better and sense check ideas with the council.
One proposal that is starting to gain momentum is the idea of a business improvement district (BID) for the central area of the town.
You can find out more on www.stockportbid. com. It has now got support from M&S, Debenhams, Merseyway, Robinsons, The Old Town, and many others.
One thing a BID can do is provide a sustainable method of marketing the town centre in a joined up way and hopefully getting everyone working together to promote events at the same time.
Other ideas are making the town centre a safer and more secure environment and so make it more appealing for families to visit.
