Charities are shortliste­d for regional trophies success

TWO Stockport charities have been shortliste­d for the Skills for Business Awards.

Stockport Progress and Recovery Centre (SPARC), which works with adults with mental health problems, and Stockport Cerebral Palsy Society were both nominated by the Essential Learning Company.

The Cerebral Palsy Society, based in Heaton Moor, has been shortliste­d for the Health and Social Care, Large Business of the Year, and ESF Skills for the Workforce Business of the Year awards, while Cale Green-based SPARC has been shortliste­d for the Health and Social Care, Small Business of the Year and ESF Skills for the Workforce Overcoming Challenges awards.

The Essential Learning Company is based in High Lane and provides apprentice­ships and training in the workplace, and counts Stockport CP Society and SPARC amongst its clients.

The Skills for Business Awards are held to celebrate the growth and success of Greater Manchester businesses, and will be held at Lancashire County Cricket Club on Wednesday, July 1, hosted by Manchester comedian Justin Moorhouse.
