Taylor in top form all the way to finish line

PAUL Taylor was in tremendous form in the first Bob Fayle Memorial knock out, when he fired home superb darts of 15, 15, 19 and 17 to beat a worthy opponent Chris Proctor (20, 17 and 16) in the final.

Taylor was in fine form from the first round, with a 3-2 win over Steve Gallagher, then shots of 16, 19 and 21 gave him a 3-2 victory against Jeff Pearson (21, 20), he followed this with finishing darts of 20, 18 and 15 to send out Rick Shelmerdin­e (18, 19) for a place a place in the semi-finals where the Stockport Sharpshoot­er won in three straight legs of 24, 18, and 18 against Adam Oldham.

Proctor won his quarter final game 3-1 in 16, 17 and 22 over John Weigert, before checking out in 20, 23 and 18 to win his semifinal battle 3-2 against Paul Phillips 17, 24.

This Friday at the Star and Garter we will be playing for the Don Roebuck trophy, this superb man was involved in darts for over forty years, he was the Cheshire team manager and gave young players the chance to represent their County, his Cale Green team were unbeaten for over four years in the Stockport and Hazel Grove League, where he held every position over the years, entrance fee is £5 with prize money for the winner, runner up and losing semi-finalist.

Armoury B blasted Fingerpost 6-1 in the Stockport Super League, Mark Cairney (17, 14) Darryl Fitton (18, 19) Buck Rodgerson (20, 20) Mark McGeeny (19, 18) and Danny Kay (23, 24) were all in fine form for the unbeaten league leaders.

Armoury A sent Brinningto­n Labour Club home with a 6-1 defeat, Simon Hardman (20, 16) Paul Holland (22, 23) and Mat Phillips (21, 27) were the main winners for the home side.

Ryan Moore (18, 18) Chris Proctor (18, 19) Bob Blakeley (21, 18) and Ian Walters (23, 17) all helped Queens B take out the Thatched Tavern Reddish 5-2. South West Manchester Cricket Club hit Klondyke Club for six, Paul Charnock (18, 24) Steve Cullum (18, 26) Paul Britton (23, 20) and Andy Latham (22, 26) inflicted the damage.

Star and Garter A turned on the magic to beat Bulls Head Marple 6-1, Mike Smith (18, 23) Steve Atkinson (19, 23) and Mick Cosgrove (23, 27) were the Stars top players.

In Premier Division leaders Emigration demolished Railway Club 7-0, once again the flying Dutchman Kirk Ten Pierick (17, 21) was their outstandin­g player, followed by Alan Gee (21, 19) and Joe McCrevey (25, 26).

Grange Club continued their push for promotion when they edged out the Jolly Crofter 4-3 , with fine efforts coming Terry Harrison (23, 21) Aaron Lee (23, 22) and Andy Nicholl (22, 23)

Star and Garter B ran riot at Grey Horse Reddish, where they came away with a 7-0 victory, their top performanc­es came from Rick Shelmerdin­e (15, 18) Steve Dewar (20, 20) and Leon Ryder (19, 24).
