Reign of Range ended by Dalians

THE proud six-year reign of Whalley Range as the Premier division champions is over.

They are succeeded by Rochdalian­s, who have topped the table for the bulk of the season.

They finished three points ahead of Range with the big buffer of a better goal difference of 28.

Range kept up their chase of the new champions all the way finishing their season with a 2-0 win at Rhodes Cup winners Mellor, who ended up in fourth place behind South Manchester.

Gorse Hill were worthy champions of division one finishing six points clear of Abacus Media with Eagle FC a further seven points adrift.

In division two High Lane continued their good progress since joining the league taking top spot on goal difference from Whalley Range seconds with Mellor seconds in third place.

Deans rejoined the league at the start of the season and they showed their quality by finishing six points clear at the top of division three.

Salford Vics seconds were runaway winners of division A with a massive haul of 55 points seeing them 14 ahead of Newton seconds with Old Stretfordi­ans thirds next up with 38.

Chorltonia­ns Town deserved the division C title as they remained unbeaten throughout the season to hold off a worthy challenge from Bury Ams thirds by five points.

Tintwistle Athletic claimed the Division D crown and Signol Athletic seconds won E Division.

The league trophies will be handed out at the annual League Presentati­on Dinner at Stockport County where there will also be awards for the Referee of the Year, Secretary of the Year, The SE Woollam Aggregate Trophy and the Fair Play award together with ties for people who have served their clubs for 25 years.
