Tweet success for Francesca
A TALENTED tweeter has landed a job as a recruitment company’s first ever social media apprentice.
Francesca Sedgwick, 21, from Bramhall has been taken on as a full time employee by Venturi, which specialises in the IT industry.
While working at Venturi, Francesca will also attend The Juice Academy in Manchester to study towards a City and Guilds certificate in Social Media & Digital.
She will be trained by top industry leaders and receive advice from some of the country’s leading marketing specialists, who regularly visit the academy to host guest lectures.
In the past year these have included Dom Burch, senior director at Asda and David Parr, relationship director at Barclays.
Francesca says she is relishing the opportunity to make a start in the industry.
She said: “Social media is such an exciting industry to work in, and I feel privileged that I can use my skills to kick start my career.
“Unlike going to university, by the end of the apprenticeship course I won’t be saddled with thousands of pounds worth of debt.
In fact, we’re being paid while we learn, and I’ll have one of the most valuable things employers look for – on-the-job experience.”
James Doyle, director at Venturi, added: “Social media is now a huge part of the way we all communicate, so it’s crucial that businesses keep up to date and are able to interact with their customers digitally. Francesca immediately became an important part of our marketing team, and we can see the benefits of having her on board already.”
