Pitch in for carnival

-

WITH just a few weeks to go before Hazel Grove Carnival, organisers are appealing to residents for their help and support.

There are still spaces for floats, dancers, musicians and vehicles to be entered into the grand parade, which takes place as part of the festival on Saturday, July11.

A number of local businesses will be dressing up their premises for the day, and there are also pitches available at the showground in Torkington Park for food and drink sellers, performers, community groups and table top stalls.

The carnival’s hard working volunteers have been busy fundraising over the past few weeks, with events including a table top sale at Hazel Grove High School.

Volunteer and local councillor Oliver Johnstone said: “It was great fun and fantastic to see so many residents helping to raise money for the local carnival.

“We were selling bacon and sausage sandwiches, tea, coffee and biscuits to some really determined bargain hunters.

“All in all we managed to raise £500 for the carnival and Hazel Grove High School, which made it a very worthwhile morning.

“Thank you all who supported us.”
