Nine nominations for musical theatre awards
ROMILEY’S NK Theatre Arts group has been nominated for nine awards at this year’s Manchester Musical Awards.
The company, based at The Forum Theatre, has put on two musicals in the last year – Footloose and Tommy.
Footloose, which was performed in September, has been shortlisted for Best Show, and has also picked up nominations for Best Choreographer and Best Director for Hannah Gorst.
The Footloose finale was nominated for Best Ensemble Piece, and Charlotte Lavelle has been nominated for Best Actress for her portrayal of Rusty.
Tommy has picked up nominations for Best Ensemble Piece for Pinball Wizard, Best Actress for Emily Tushingham, Best All Round Performance for Ben Mackenzie in the part of Tommy, and Best Supporting Actor for Reece Barker-Wilson, seven, who played younger Tommy.
Company manager Darren Stannage said: “NK delivers sessions all year round which give a fantastic grounding for our shows and events, and it’s brilliant to be recognised again this year.
“All of the nominations are a great testament to all of the hard work put into our charity by so many different people, although we were all absolutely thrilled for Reece who is one of the youngest ever nominees!”
The awards will take place on Saturday (June 13) in Bury.
