CONTRACTOR­S working on behalf of United Utilities are replacing manhole frames and covers along Otterspool Road in Romiley, between Vale Road and Hurstheads Lane.

The work is taking place overnight between 7pm and 6am using temporary traffic signals, and is expected to be completed by Friday (June 12).

AUTHOR Alan Radbourne will be speaking at Marple Library on Thursday, June 18 at 6pm.

A HAZEL Grovebased company has won an award for its approach to quality.

Sound Interiors Limited, on Levens Road, received BAM Constructi­on’s annual gold medal for quality.

BAM is the contractor behind buildings such as the Manchester City Football Academy and The Co-operative Group HQ.

Regional director Steve Byrne said: “How we work with our partners is extremely important to delivering the quality that our clients expect. That’s why we like to recognise exceptiona­l performanc­e.

“The gold award for Sound Interiors reflects their attitude and outlook, but it also reflects a healthy approach to delivering great places for people to be.”

Sound Interiors has worked with BAM on a number of projects, including the National Graphene Institute, which also won staff member Ian Napier the gold medal for subcontrac­t manager of the year.
