Leaders too strong for Compstall

UNBEATEN Division 1 leaders Dinting hosted Compstall who batted first and were reduced to 94 all out as Jon Coleman took 3-18 and Peter Hills 4-9. Dinting then lost three wickets in reaching 95-3.

Dinting’s closest challenger­s Broadbotto­m kept up the pressure at the top of the league with a dominant display at Hadfield, the home side batted first and were bowled out for 176. Broadbotto­m romped to 180-1.

Hawk Green set an imposing 276-9 batting first at Old Glossop with Pete Richards hitting 129 and Brad Holme 31 not out as Rob Adderley took 4-55.

In reply Andy Nicholson hit 46 and J Eyre 87 but 5-81 from J Henderson and 3-75 from J Unsworth reduced the home side to 213 all out.

Whaley Bridge were bowled out for 116 at home to New Mills, Neil Woolley making 58 as M Birchenall took 3-26 and Malc Strong 4-7. Strong then hit 52 as New Mills reached 117-5 despite Ed Ford taking 3-36.

Mottram won the toss and elected to bat at Woodley going on to make 222-8 as A Metcalf hit 31, Steffan Fielding 52 and Ryan Fitton 71 while Conor Cranwell took 3-30 and Harry Rippon 3-30. N Bradford then scored 42, D Oldland 43 and C Cranwell 32 but 5-70 from A Burke helped limit Woodley to 208-9.

In Division 2, Charleswor­th travelled to Buxton and finished 199 all out as Elliot Morley hit 56 and Mudassa Muddy 57 while E Cash-Davies took 4-56. Joel Frowhein then made 43 3-39 from Muddy and 5-55 from Jonny Wardle reduced the home side to 159 all out.

Hazel Grove struggled with the bat as they were bowled out for 96 at home to Birch Vale, Lee Sykes with 42 as P Trueman took 3-42 and J Bannister 4-19. Birch Vale then cruised to 98-2, L Kennedy making 51 with the one bright spark for the home side an exquisite pick up and throw run out from Chris Glennon.

Newton were bowled out for 175 by visiting High Lane as K Handforth hit 31, N Tansella 55 and A Allcock 37 while debutant Ryan Nixon took 5-24 and Josh Noel 4-58.

High Lane then slumped to 80 all out as Sam Stephens took 4-43 and D Weston 6-28.

Dove Holes amassed a massive 296-5 batting first at Offerton, Tom Forder unbeaten on 105 with D Jones hitting 76 and Jack Gregory 65. Sean Critchlow then took 7-40 as Offerton were all out for 97.

Division 3 Broadbotto­m were bowled out for 182 by visitors Hayfield, who passed their target for the loss of five wickets.

Old Glossop batted first at Hawk Green and were bowled out for 111, C Keem making 30 as L Jeffs took 4-22 and Luke Young 3-23. Jack Needham then hit 38 and Jeffs 39 not out as Hawk Green closed 114-6 despite 4-25 from J Wright.

Woodley travelled to Mottram and were asked to bat first by their hosts, going on to make 242-5 as P Cocks hit 90, G Wilson 62 and S Richards 41. Mottram could not match the required run rate as they closed well short on 185-7, Sam Fazackerle­y making 57 and H Moore 40 as Will Adam took 4-50.

New Mills were bowled out for 144 by visitors Hollingwor­th with M Collinge making 42 as L Belfield took 3-35, Pete Morris 3-26 and T Cockshot 3-7. In reply Hollingwor­th had no answer to the bowling of Rory Dolan (5-12) or Tom Boardman (3-10) as they were all out for just 67.

In Division 4, Birch Vale batted first at home to Hazel Grove and were bowled out for 178 with S Burns making 35, C Culkin 38 and P Stanton 34 while Andy Rodgers took 5-39 and Mike Bernard 3-24.

The Hazel Grove openers then made light work of their target as they reached 179-0, Andy Oldfield unbeaten on 112 and Chris Cooke 57.

Offerton were bowled out for just 83 as they made the trip to Compstall, F Bokhari scoring 33 while F Heginbotha­m took 3-15 and Ravi Patel 4-7. It was a day to forget for Compstall’s batsmen as L Gaskell took 7-18 and U Rhana 3-8 to bowl their hosts out for just 73.

Tintwistle were bowled out for 137 at High Lane, S Morris scoring 61 for the visitors as Pat Firth took 5-44. R Barrow then took 4-12 and J Patel 3-1 as High Lane were all out for 53.
