Tracey just misses out on the final Countdown

-

A MATURE student who wants to study English and maths GCSEs got all the way to the final of TV show Countdown’s champion of champions.

Tracey Mills, 43, finished runner-up in the quiz programme’s grand final that was screened this week.

She had already won eight shows in a row to qualify and then won two more rounds before falling at the final hurdle.

The mum-of-three, who lives on Ebbdale Close with husband Mark, will now turn her attention back to her studies.

She said: “It was really enjoyable and I got very excited. I was very pleased to get as far as I did – it was close all the way.

“I had practised quite a bit but I surprised myself. It’s back to reality now watching it on TV.”

Tracey, who appeared on Countdown 12 years ago but lost her first game, attends Stockport College.

She is currently completing a foundation course before starting English and maths GCSEs in September 2016.

She did not achieve English and maths at school but wants to study a degree in criminology.

Tracey added: “I want GCSE maths and English. It was years ago but a school setting probably wasn’t for me.”
